Part Filling
Running a Flow Simulation
is in nowadays a must when designing a new plastic part. Detailled analysis can be done in the early design stage, in order to avoid any major poduction problems at the end of the process chain. A flow analysis with Autodesk® Moldflow® Software delivers beside the flow pattern reliable results for the producibility, pressure and temperature distribution and locations of weld lines and air traps.
Filltime
Representation of the melt fill pattern as a color plot and animated graphics.
Animated Part Filling
Weld lines
are identified by the software, where at least two flow fronts meet each other. With this information it is possible to improve the fill pattern and move the weld lines in uncritical regions. Very often this can be achieved by changes in the geometry or relocationg the gate.
Air traps
are displayed at those regions where the air needs to be vented in the mold.
Appearance of an Air Trap
Pressure at end of fill
shows the injection pressure which is needed to fill the part.
Pressure drop
visualizes how much pressure is needed to transport the melt to that particular point in the cavity.
Flow front temperature
shows the temperature at the flow front during filling.
Orientation
shows the average orientation of the molecules on the part surface.
Average Temperature
at the end of filling. Shows the average temperature through the wall thickness when the part is completly filled.
% of frozen layers
at the end of filling. Shows the portion of melt that is already frozen at the end of the filling phase.
Quality prediction
shows potential problems on the part regarding the combination of the parameters flow front temperature, pressure drop, long cooling times, high shear rates and stresses.
